Grab your leather jacket and head to the Harley-Davidson Museum for the Labor Day weekend hometown rally. It’s a jam-packed weekend with events like motorcycle demos, museum tours, performance and stunt shows, Flat Out Friday’s Boonie Bike World Series and more for motorcycle enthusiasts and the spectators. 2. Mail, mom and TNT hotline

FRIDAY | TURNER HALL BALLROOM

Indie darling Snail Mail returns to Turner Hall, this time with Los Angeles’ Momma and New York’s Hotline TNT opening for it. Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan already has six years of international touring experience under her belt at 23. Find out what all the Friday night buzz is about as she tours for her second album, valentine.

3. Saint Francis Days

FRIDAY-SUNDAY | MILTON VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK

Seventy years ago, St. Francis began operating as a government entity. This weekend they celebrate the history of the community with the annual St. Francis Days festival. The family-friendly event includes carnival rides, a St. Francis Day parade, a cornhole tournament, car shows, and numerous concerts.

4. Fall in love with flowers

SATURDAY AT 10 AM | HAWTHORN GLEN

Labor Day is the unofficial start of fall, and Milwaukee Rec helps you prepare your fall garden. Hawthorn Glen’s naturalists and educators teach attendees all about the goldenrod, asters and other fall flowers that will bloom in the city as the weather cools.

5. Shrekfest

SATURDAY | HUMBOLDT PARK

Milwaukee’s newest festival debuts at Humboldt Park this weekend. Shrekfest is an annual music, art and film event organized by the artistic collective 3GI Industries. The festival features Shrek-themed live music, games, an onion-eating contest, a roar contest, a costume contest, and concludes with an outdoor screening of the film. Shrek. Strangely unrelated, there is also a Shrek Rave is happening at The Rave for those who want to party with the locals of Far Far Away.

6. Honey, Yer Doin Just Fine Festival

SATURDAY FROM 4 PM TO 8 PM | ICE CREAM FOR EVERYONE

West Allis’ Everyone’s ice cream is a candy collective serving local flavors from places like Scratch, Purple Door, Liv a Little, Crème De Liqueur and Sweet Tooth Grin. This Saturday, they celebrate their second anniversary with a “Honey, Yer Doin’ Just Fine” festival. They will have honey from their rooftop apiary, wood-fired pizzas and lots of ice cream. Children and adults are welcome to come and enjoy the live music, face painting and bouncy house.

7. Clean Culture WI Showcase

SATURDAY AT 4 PM | WISCONSIN STATE FAIR GROUND

Clean Culture is one of the fastest growing automotive events in the country. This Saturday, the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds will host hundreds of different types of vehicles for spectators to enjoy, along with live music, food trucks, automotive limbo and more. Tickets are available on line.

8. Third Ward Art Festival

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY | HISTORIC THIRD QUARTER

Stroll through Milwaukee’s gallery district to see art from more than 130 selected artists in a variety of mediums. There will be food and drink options at nearby restaurants and festival food vendors. For young art lovers, the festival offers a children’s art tent, face painting and live music on two stages.

9. Free weekends in September at Old World Wisconsin

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY | OLD WORLD WISCONSIN

This weekend kicks off Wisconsin’s Old World Kids Free Weekends that take place every Saturday and Sunday throughout September. Visitors are invited to travel back in time and discover the world of Wisconsin’s first immigrants. Participants can help with chores and cooking, try their hand at crafts and trades, stoke the fire in the blacksmith’s shop, race bikes, pick vegetables from the gardens and more.

10. Boone & Crockett 10th Anniversary

SUNDAY FROM 4 PM TO 10 PM | BOONE & CROCKETT

Milwaukee’s favorite spot on the river celebrates its belated birthday with a festive patio makeover. Along with a takeover by Lion’s Tail Beers, revelers can enjoy live music and a great view of the Hoan Bridge light show.

11. Labor Day and Parade

MONDAY AT 11 AM | THE SUMMER PARTY GROUND

Every year, unions and union members of the Milwaukee Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO, hold Labor Fest, a chance to remember those who sacrificed for the benefits we now enjoy – weekend- ends, worker protections, vacations, overtime pay and other workers’ rights. The day begins with a parade from Zeidler Union Square to the Summerfest Grounds where the festival takes place. Labor Fest includes live music, kids’ entertainment like science and magic shows, a classic car show, and a Harley Davidson motorcycle raffle. And yes, President Joe Biden will be present.
