This newlywed couple delivered their wedding flower arrangements to those in need of a reason to smile
Instead of giving the flowers to their guests, which is common – and perfectly fine – the newlyweds have decided to spread much-needed love and positivity in their community of San Angelo, Texas, by delivering the bouquets to those who want to. could use a reason to smile.
Buckner took to social media for help with the cast.
“We just got married and would like to gift our wedding flowers,” she posted on her community page. “If you know someone who feels lonely or needs to cheer up, even if it is an elderly person on your street that you have seen but have never spoken to, please message me with his address and we’ll give him an arrangement with an encouraging note. Help us spread the love! “
Within hours, her inbox was flooded with messages from people sharing stories of friends and families who struggled with loneliness, illness and loss during the pandemic.
So Buckner – who works 12 hours as an emergency room nurse – spent his day off driving to 20 different locations in San Angelo with her new husband. They stopped at neighborhood residences, retirement homes and burial sites to deliver flowers, smiles and handwritten notes.
“People were so confused when we came up with flowers. I tried not to take all the credit and just told them their friend thought they could use a bouquet of flowers today,” he said. Buckner said. “After that, there were a lot of tears of joy and smiles.”
Buckner said that with all the negativity going on in the world right now, she felt the need to spread joy and happiness.
“We will keep memories of these people for the rest of our lives,” she said. “It was really special.”
