Spread cheer to elderly neighbors with special flower arrangements

BATH, NY (WETM) — Spreading cheer and joy can take many forms, but for a local business owner, it means designing flower arrangements.

Florist and owner of Luxury floral design, Jessica Powell, launched the “Let Kindness Bloom” campaign four years ago to make a difference in the lives of elderly neighbours. The campaign is sponsored anonymously through donations from the community, friends and loved ones and delivered to residents of nursing facilities.

“I really like giving back to the community. I love bringing sunshine to those in need,” Powell said. “His
always that smile that flowers bring them that makes him so important to me.

Last year, 400 residents sponsored bouquets for 10 nursing homes in the region. This year, Powell says they are a little behind but hope to achieve what they did last year.

“Unfortunately we have not received a favorable response at this stage to provide 10 bouquets to each of the care homes. We need to secure at least 120 sponsors,” Powell added.

The ‘Let Kindness Bloom’ campaign is accepting donations until January 28. Arrangements can be ordered from the DeLuxe Floral Design Social Facebook Page.
