I’m an interior design professional – how to make your home more expensive and stylish on a budget
A lavish home doesn’t require the most extravagant budget.
In fact, you can make your home look both chic and expensive with a few simple, inexpensive updates – according to an interior whiz.
“How to make your home look expensive on a budget,” interior expert Dani Marie began in a TikTok video uploaded to her 373,000 TikTok followers.
First, Dani highlighted the incorporation of natural stone.
She said, “Natural stones like marble and [granite] scream high end. However, you don’t have to completely remodel your kitchen or have a marble fireplace to achieve this look.”
Dani explained that the key is to incorporate smaller pieces of marble or stone into your design.
According to the expert, almost any item with an organic or natural touch will look sophisticated, even if they are in small quantities.
LIMIT ALL CLUTTER
Then, while you’re on the hunt for an expensive-looking home, Dani said clutter should be kept to a minimum.
“Now that can be hard to swallow, but clutter can ruin the look of any room.
“Keeping surfaces clean is key. It doesn’t matter how much money you spend on your house if it’s full of junk.”
HIGH QUALITY FABRICS
High quality fabrics and materials also play a part in keeping a home looking luxurious.
“Choosing high-quality fabrics and materials can instantly elevate a room,” Dani said.
She shared that an affordable way to do this is to incorporate beautiful fabrics like linen and weaves into your throw pillows or bed.
REAL AND HEALTHY PLANTS
“Owning and caring for real plants is a great way to bring sophistication to any space,” Dani says.
“Also, don’t be afraid to reach for a few wildflowers. I love putting them in vases and sprinkling them around my house.”
