Floral arrangements inspired by Taurus – Floriscope Taurus

Creative. Kind. Based. Taurus, we’re talking about you! As the sun enters the second sign of the zodiac (ruling the calendar roughly from April 20 to May 20), we celebrate stubborn but sensual bulls.

“If your Sun is in Taurus, you’re probably a very stable, deeply empathetic person who enjoys the finer things in life,” says Sanctuary astrologer Laurence Ash. The planet Venus rules this earth sign, giving Taurus a strong sense of aesthetics.

While we have long looked to the stars for mystical direction, we also call on our gardens to bring the spirits of our zodiac signs to life through artful flower arrangements. For Taurus’ floral horoscope (or as we like to call it, the floriscope), read on.

“Sensual by nature, Taurus is a sign that most aligns with art, creativity, and earthly desires,” says the astrologer Lisa Stardust. Different shades of pink evoke Venus, the planet of romance. “Pink is the color associated with Taurus because it represents love, kindness, and creativity,” Stardust says. Verdant green appeals to the grounded personality of this earth sign. “Very grounded, many Taurus are known for their green thumbs,” adds Ash.

Fragrant flowers that represent the bull’s penchant for comfort and luxury may include honeysuckle, daisies, magnolia, and lilac. “While a Taurus enjoys a life of luxury, they don’t do it for fame or attention. For a Taurus, life should be enjoyed with a fine glass of wine,” Ash explains.

The main floral representative of a Taurus is the rose, which is the flower of Venus. “Roses represent love and sensuality, which is why they align with the bull,” Stardust explains. Together, these fragrant blooms create a heady arrangement perfect for sensual Taurus.

The rich green plantings of the arrangement allude to Taurus’ earthy nature. “Don’t be afraid to add greenery to a Taurus’ bouquet of flowers. They prefer red, pink or white roses, but not all of them mixed. If you choose white flowers, add a bit more greenery around the edges to satisfy their earthly desires,” suggests Stardust.

Inspired by the creativity and passionate traits of the Birmingham-based florist Taurus Mark Thompson swirled an ethereal and romantic arrangement representative of the fundamental characteristics of this zodiac sign. Using a pedestal vase allows delicate branches of greenery to trail gracefully around the edges. Thompson says that a container of this shape makes a solid base for holding flowers (much like how Taurus is known to be strong and steady!).

To begin, he placed a form of mesh inside the vase and filled it with water. Then he added greenery – jasmine and winter honeysuckle – to create the overall shape of the arrangement. Thompson then constructed the bouquet with stems of dark pink and pale pink garden roses, lime green hellebores, pink ranunculus, coral godetias, pink spider lilies and white fleabane daisies. He filled in the holes with extra pieces of greenery.
