Dubai Design Week hosts Lebanese design showcase
DUBAI: Adriana Lima never fails to breathe glamor when she steps out on the red carpet, and this weekend’s “Dior Designer of Dreams” show in Doha was no different.
For the occasion, the Brazilian model was photographed wearing an elegant creation from the Middle East.
The former Victoria’s Secret model has chosen a model from the Fall 2021 collection by Lebanese designer Georges Chakra.
The black design featured a red satin lining, a structural neckline and a high slit, with ruffled skirt details.
She accessorized the look with Christian Louboutin pumps and dangling earrings from jewelry brand Hanut Singh.
âIn the collection this was my favorite look and on Adriana she is absolutely lovely,â Chakra told Arab News. “The dress is structured and ultra-modern, and with the deep red contrasting with the black, it gives a sculptural illusion of vibrant life beneath the dark armored surface.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the explosion of August 4, 2020 in the Beirut port area, Chakra did not unveil its Fall 2021 couture collection during the official Haute Couture week of the Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion this year, but presented instead in a digital format.
Like its previous collections, the fall 2021 couture offer was an amalgamation of expert tailoring, volume, ruffles, traces of lamé and rich fabrics such as lace, silk velvet, organza de silk and gazar.
Chakra is one of the best couture designers in Lebanon. Her dresses have graced Parisian catwalks and Hollywood red carpets, while top talent in the entertainment industry, including Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Lopez and Letitia Wright, regularly don her designs.
Her designs have even been featured in movies and TV shows like “Gossip Girl” – Blake Lively’s character Serena van der Woodsen got married in a dramatic strapless tulle Chakra-designed dress in the finale of the series.
For her part, Lima, 40, achieved an unmistakable range of striking looks by Arab design talents just last week.
The black tulle cape dress with petal neckline cutouts and gold embellished details from Zuhair Murad’s Resort 2022 collection immediately comes to mind.
Lima certainly has a fondness for Arab designers and has been photographed wearing looks from the archives of regional designers on numerous occasions, most notably at the 2019 UNICEF Summer Gala in Italy, where she opted for a strapless creation. with iridescent sequins by Rami Kadi. In October, she walked the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of “Last Night In Soho” in a sculptural gown from the spring 2022 line by Lebanese label Azzi & Osta.
