Contribution from the Ministry of Economic Development: The Government of Belize (GOB), through a funding agreement with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF), has embarked on a six-year program, Resilient Rural Belize (RRB), which aims to minimize the impacts of climatic and economic events on smallholder farmers while supporting sustainable market access for their products. The program will help farmers use climate-resilient agricultural practices and technologies; integrating the profitable participation of smallholders in the development of selected vegetable, fruit and honey value chains; and supporting the productive capacity of smallholders through investments in climate-resilient public and private infrastructure and strengthening smallholder farmer producer organizations and relevant GOB departments.

Scope of service:
The main objective of this consultation is to contract the services of a consulting firm to provide architectural services for the design and supervision of the construction works of the storage and conditioning centers for the RRB beneficiaries in the villages. following:

1. Cayo District – Valley of Peace, San Antonio and Seven Miles
2. Orange March – San Carlos
3. District of Corozal – Villages of Concepcion and Xiabe.

Specific firm experience:
• A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the design, development and supervision of architectural designs.
• A minimum of at least one project of similar nature and complexity. Experience with all agricultural and produce/food handling structures and facilities will be an advantage.

Key Staff Qualifications:
The consulting firm must have two (2) key personnel:

• Architect
Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in architecture, professional architect registered with the Professional Architects Association of Belize (APAB)
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in architecture.
Proficiency in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software for the preparation of drawings and the creation of 3D renderings.

• Engineer
Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Must be registered with the Professional Engineers Association of Belize (APEB)
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in engineering design, design review, construction supervision and its related requirements.

The Resilient Rural Belize (RRB) program is now inviting companies to express their interest in providing services for the design and construction supervision of the storage and packaging centers.

A consulting firm will be selected in accordance with the procurement procedures established by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the policies.

Consulting Firms interested in receiving the Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) should express their interest by sending an e-mail (with subject: Request for REOI – Design and supervision of construction works for storage and packaging) to the purchasing manager at [email protected] giving the full contact details of the consultant. This will ensure that consultants receive updates regarding this RFP.

The REOI must be submitted by email to the following address no later than November 11, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. (local time). Only electronic submission will be accepted.
