# 1 Where to find your garden

Planting a flower garden is actually pretty straightforward and the game does a great job of guiding you, that is, once you find the damn thing. If you’re not careful you might not have noticed it, but to the left of your campsite a new area has been cleared where you can plant up to new flowers. To start the garden, all you have to do is go to the entrance to the garden area and chat a bit with Isabelle who is standing at the entrance. She’ll give you a little gardening talk, then send you off to chat with Lloid, a cheerful little garden cactus who’ll teach you the ropes.

Planting flowers in your garden is pretty straightforward. Just tap on an empty patch of land and a menu will appear above your head that says “Plant Seeds”. Tap on it and you will be redirected to all the seeds in your inventory. Just tap on the one you want to plant and your character will go straight to it.

Growing flowers takes a little time, but if you want to speed up the process, you can use a special fertilizer. Each drop you use speeds up the process by 30 minutes. While Lliod will give you some fertilizer to start with, you can purchase more in a special gardening pack for $ 0.99.

# 4 How to harvest flowers

Once your flower is fully developed, tap on it and you will have the option of harvesting or cross-pollinating. To harvest your flowers, just tap the option and your avatar will get to work.

# 5 How to cross flowers and why you’ll want

As mentioned above, when a flower is fully developed, you have the option of harvesting or cross-pollinating it. If you choose to cross-pollinate, it gives you the option of getting new or rare seeds in return. To cross pollinate, you must have at least one flower harvested from your items. Once you press the cross pollination button, you then select the flower you want to use for cross pollination. When the task is completed, you will collect a new set of seeds – often rare seeds that you might not encounter otherwise. The warning used in the cross-warning is that you lose all of the flowers harvested during cross-pollination. Over time, however, you’ll have so many flowers in your arsenal that it hardly looks like a sacrifice.

You may have noticed a watering bucket in the corner of your garden and maybe even a prompt to water your flowers when the soil gets dry. But how do you know when the flowers need watering? It’s actually quite simple. If you walk around your garden and find that some plots have lighter colored soil than others, these are the dry plots. When you tap on it, you will see the option to water those plots. I don’t know what would happen if you skipped watering your plots, but I guess it slows down the growth or prevents them from flowering. Either way, it’s probably a good idea to check your backyard every time you visit the game.

Besides just planting and maintaining your own garden, you can also help people on your friends list with their gardens. Just tap on a friend’s name in your list and save the “Visit a friend” button and if he or she has a garden you will see the option to visit the campsite or the garden. Press the “Garden” option to be taken to his garden. Once there, you can either water the dry plots or cross-pollinate your friends’ flowers to get new seeds. Being able to help friends in their gardens is a bit more interactive than just visiting to offer congratulations, as it brings legitimate benefits for both of you.
