Animal Crossing Flower Guide: How to Raise Hybrid Flowers in New Horizons

0

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has many different types of flowers to grow, and if you’re up for the effort, there are some rare hybrid flowers that can really make your island shine.

Flowers have been a long-standing staple of Animal Crossing franchise. At first glance, they might seem like little more than a nice way to make your island look pretty, but there’s actually a lot of depth for players who take the time to experiment.

It all comes down to cross-pollination, which basically means that flowers of the same type that are planted next to each other can reproduce and – if you’re lucky – produce new hybrid colors that you won’t find naturally and won’t. cannot buy from Nook’s Cranny.

While it can be done through the process of trial and error, it’s much easier when you know which flowers will work together to create the hybrid you want. This is where our comprehensive guide to New Horizons flowers comes in.

Flowers in Animal Crossing New Horizons Explained

Flowers can brighten up your New Horizons Island.

Flowers are a simple yet essential part of any Animal Crossing play experience. Planting them can make your island more attractive and can also help you increase your island’s star level.

When you get a ladder in New Horizons, you will be able to climb the cliffs on your island and find that you have a specific type of wildflower growing on it. It can be one of the following eight breeds:

  • Cosmos
  • Hyacinths
  • Lilies
  • Chrysanthemums
  • Thoughts
  • Tulips
  • Roses
  • Wind flowers

You can get other flower races by picking them from your friends’ islands and replanting them on your own island, or by purchasing seeds from Timmy in Residential Services and later from Nook’s Cranny.

Growing new flowers is as easy as planting seeds and making sure to water them every day until they are fully developed. You can use a watering can for this, but if it has been raining recently you won’t even need to.

Hybrid flowers are sure to make your island stand out.

If you want to decorate your island with more exciting flowers than those available as standard, you can use the crossbreeding method to get your hands on some unique hybrid flowers.

The easiest way to do this is to plant your parent flowers diagonally in a checkerboard pattern. Doing it this way, instead of planting them all in a row, provides optimal space for the growth of new hybrid flowers.

Make sure your flowers are watered every day, either with a watering can or in the rain, and hybrid flowers will eventually grow in the empty spaces. Once cultivated, you can dig them up and replant them elsewhere.

Here’s how to grow hybrid flowers in Animal Crossing:

  1. Obtain seeds from your two chosen parental flowers, making sure they are of the same breed.
  2. Plant them next to each other in a diagonal checkerboard pattern.
  3. Water them every day. You can skip this step if it is raining.
  4. Once the parents are fully developed, the hybrid flowers should start to grow!

We also recommend placing fences around your flower plots, as this will prevent you (or your friends) from accidentally crossing them and ruining your hard work. Fences also make your island enjoyable!

You’ll need to get hold of a DIY Golden Watering Can Recipe first, which will be given to you when your town gets a five-star rating from Isabelle. Once you have designed this tool, you will need to grow black roses by growing red roses together.

After you get a black rose, just water it with your golden watering can, and you might have a golden rose to show off the next day! We have a more in-depth guide to growing golden roses which you can find here.
